Our outdoor program is designed to encourage curiosity, teamwork, and personal growth through hands-on activities and guided experiences. From hiking trails, climbing trees, to moments under the billowing foliage canopies doing quieter activities, and skill building challenges, every day is packed with opportunities to learn, laugh and grow.
We believe the outdoors is the best classroom. With the guidance of our trained and caring team of teachers, children are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, try new things, and discover their strengths-all the while having fun and staying active.

About
Wonder Camp is owned and operated by Julia Smith.
With over 20 years of experience in education, I bring a deep passion for teaching children of various ages. I have taught children in varied educational environments and spent several years as an administrator at schools throughout Marin and San Francisco. Over the last several years, I have moved from the four walls of the classroom into the great outdoors, including Golden Gate Park, the Presidio and now the natural beauty of Marin County. I love the beauty of all things nature, from the smallest bug, to the beautiful deer that grace our lush landscapes out our back doors.
Drawing on a strong foundation in curriculum design, child development, and mentorship, I combine many teaching practices with an emphasis on Reggio and Project Approach practices with hands-on outdoor experiences. I believe that some of the most powerful learning happens outdoors – through exploration, teamwork, and real world challenges.
Whether leading learning on trails, facilitating group activities, and fostering confidence and curiosity of children, I am dedicated to creating meaningful, engaging learning experiences. My goal is to inspire children to connect with nature deeply, develop resilience, and discover a lifelong love of learning.
